Healthy Heads Counselling

An integrated approach to growth and development

The years through childhood and adolescence can often be a confusing and confronting journey. During this unique stage of development it is crucial that the foundations for a healthy mind are established to support both social and emotional growth. Seeking help from a certified expert is the best way to put things into perspective and develop the skills needed to navigate life's challenges.

About Me

Hello, I'm Carly, A qualified teacher, registered counsellor and mother of two, living on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland. Healthy Heads Counselling is the brainchild of combining my extensive experience working with children and my fierce passion for wellbeing.
As both a practicing teacher of 10 years and qualified counsellor registered with the Australian Counselling Association, my goal is to provide children and adolescents a safe and comfortable space to work through their troubles, providing them with the skills they need to feel confident during times of uncertainty.  As a mother, I know the importance of building a village and creating support networks so I am continually striving to find ways to create a happier and healthier life for myself and the families I work with.

Why choose Healthy Heads Counselling?

By combining my experiences as a school teacher and registered counsellor, I am able to provide a point of difference when you are searching for someone to work with your child.  I have been invested in the wellbeing of children during their most critical years of growth and development, from early childhood right through to adulthood. With my ability to combine my qualifications and years of experience I am able to help children and adolescents navigate the many challenges they face both in and outside of the classroom. I have extensive experience supporting children struggling with anxiety, grief, social difficulties and those with a trauma background.

I truly believe with a little guidance we are all capable of living happy and fulfilling lives and I can assure you that choosing Healthy Heads Counselling will be one of many positive steps to creating a healthy headspace with the attention and care your family deserves.

What To Expect At Your Visit

I use a combination of evidence based theories, expressive therapy and practical exercises to build self awareness in my clients and encourage children and adolescents to adopt new attitudes and feelings towards difficult life situations. Counselling sessions should be viewed as a healing process that requires active participation and investment in the process. During a session we will focus on personal strengths and create actionable, effective problem solving skills that can be used in all areas of life when dealing with feelings of sadness, worry and fear. As each individual and their personal circumstances are unique, no two counselling sessions will be the same and the sessions will always be structured around the emotional needs and presenting issues on the day. This ensures that sessions naturally evolve to continually provide the useful skills and support needed throughout each phase of our journey together.

About: Testimonials

My daughter’s confidence, understanding and acknowledgement of her emotions since attending Miss Carly’s emotional regulation sessions has blown me away. Carly has such a kind, caring, warm and welcoming persona with children and while she is very qualified in her field she is able to teach children about their emotions in such a fun and engaging way through games and craft. My daughter has really blossomed and grown into her identity and looks forward to her sessions each week.
